Ellie Cunanan-Petty, LMFT
I am the Owner and Clinical Director of ECP Counseling Services, LLC. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason University and my graduate degree in Human Development-Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC, and have over twenty years of clinical experience. I am a Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist and have received advanced clinical training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
A guiding principle in the way I work with clients is the belief that people have within them the strengths and resources they need to resolve their struggles. Our work involves finding and uncovering those untapped resources. Another guiding principle is the belief that we shape and are shaped by our relationships and environments. I recognize the importance of using therapy sessions to process and resolve present concerns and also believe in balancing this with exploring your family of origin and past relationships. Understanding where we come from can offer valuable insight when we're making choices about our future.
Amy Wu, LMFT-R
Amy received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from James Madison University and her graduate degree in Human Development-Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. She is a resident Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-R) in Virginia and has clinical experience working with adults, couples, and families. She has received clinical training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy).
She draws from trauma-informed and attachment-based therapy models, but also offers focus on skill building, mindful living, and insight into relationships and impactful past experiences. She specializes in couples therapy and creates a safe space to develop or rebuild trust centered on expressing emotions, renewing connection, and repairing emotional distance. Amy is guided by the belief that healing and resolving concerns starts with being seen compassionately. When clients are willing to explore beyond their day-to-day living, they open up new ways to better connect with themselves and their loved ones.
